Do you like jelly?
I do!! Lime, raspberry and orange flavoured jelly are my favourite colours!!
Jelly is wobbly, soft and it just slides down my teddy throat! When I was a
little teddy, my teddy Mum always let me have my favourite jelly for dessert on
my birthday, and she would put a Freddo frog in it and sprinkle hundreds and
thousands on the top! It was very, very yummy!!
Oh, I just have to tell you about what
happened to Jessica the jelly-eating teddy!! It is such a funny story…well I
wasn't funny at the time…but it really was funny you know…and it still makes me
giggle when I remember it! Right, well grab a comfy seat, put a nice fluffy
cushion behind your back, perhaps grab a bowl of jelly from your fridge, sit
back, and I'll tell you what happened!!
All my teddy
friends were invited to a HUGE big birthday party. It was such a fun day we all
had! There were balloons and streamers all around and it was organised by Betsy the "best birthday party-giving
bear" in the whole wide world! (Well, perhaps I am exaggerating a little
bit! She might not be the best party giver in the WHOLE WIDE WORLD because I have
to tell you the truth and say that I
haven't been invited to any parties in Paris or London or Auckland or Rome or Athens
or…in fact I haven't been overseas at all!! But…I still think Betsy is the best
party giver that I have ever known and if she did decide to enter in a
competition for birthday party giving I
think she would win first prize!! On the other hand, I may be a bit biased
because we have been bear mates right from when we were just little teddies and
played together on the swings, slides, and see saw in the teddy playground.
Betsy would sit on one end of the see saw and I would sit on the other end, and
we would go up and down, down and up, and it was sooo much fun! We would also
take turns going down the slippery slide. It was a lot of fun…except for the day when Tedderley
teddy slid down the slide and was thinking about a happy daydream and forgot to
get off the end of the slide…and all of a sudden there was a "bank
up" of lots of teddies all lined up one after another at various stages
down the slide!! It was such a funny sight to see! It was indeed a slide full
of teddies, all hugging each other with their arms around the sides of the one
in front of them. Tedderley Teddy was very embarrassed, and he quickly awoke
from his daydream after a few minutes and got up… which was not such a wise
decision because when he got up it caused a big landslide effect and all the
other teddies quickly descended down the slide with an abrupt movement and there was a pile of giggling, a bit bruised and
astonished little teddies in a heap on the ground at the end of the slide! But
anyway, this just goes to show that Betsy and I have been best bear buddies for
a beary long time!)
Anyway, back to
the birthday party that my teddy friends including Jessica and I were invited
to and had fun attending. Betsy had made lots of bowls of jelly for us all to
enjoy eating. Teddies like jelly you know, and by the time the party was over,
there was just one bowl of jelly left. It was such a nice sunny day for playing
outdoors, but by the time the afternoon was drawing to a close, the temperature
had got very, very warm. In fact, the temperature was in the high 30's degree
mark. Danny the teddy driver had very kindly offered to drive Jessica, myself
and 2 other teddy friends to the party, because it was held at Betsy's home
which is 1 and ½ hours travelling distance away. Danny said that he would take
us home too, and so when the party ended we all got ready to climb into his car.
Betsy knew just how much Jessica liked eating jelly, so she very, very kindly
offered the bowl of jelly to her to take home to eat for supper that night. Jessica
literally "jumped" at this very nice offer and she very happily
clutched the bowl of jelly in her arms and clambered into the car. Hmmm…not
such a wise decision!! 38 degrees in temperature PLUS a bowl of jelly in
Jessica's hand PLUS a very hot car with no air conditioning PLUS Danny who is
not the most gentlest, smoothest driver EQUALS… jelly that melted very quickly,
turned into a running liquid, upturned onto Jessica's pretty pink birthday
party dress when Danny had to put on the brakes all of a sudden which stopped
the car abruptly… jelly everywhere!! It was quite a mess!!! Jessica was very
upset…she was sooo sad that she wouldn't be able to have jelly for supper that
night!! The rest of us teddies were more concerned about the jelly mess that
covered Jessica's dress and had dripped all over the car seat and onto the
floor!! After we all tried to calm Jessica down, and Talia the thoughful teddy
promised Jessica that tomorrow she would
make a special bowl of jelly for her to eat, Jessica started to feel happier
and we were able to help clean up her clothes and the car. Talia took the bowl
that the jelly had been, and promised to make the new jelly in it… but this
time the jelly was to be kept in the fridge until Jessica was going to eat it!
Sooo… I like jelly!
I have lately been enjoying eating the fruit in jelly tubs that we sell at the
Kiosk. They are soooo delicious! They are sealed so don't need to be kept in
the fridge. Hmmm… I think that I may grab one now because I feel a bit hungry…
Until next time,
Don't have a bowl of jelly in your hands
if you happen to be sitting in a car on a 38 degree day with no air
conditioning on!!
Your friend, Mr. Kiosk-Ted Strath
Also simply
known as "Ted"!!
