What an
interesting time I had yesterday!! If you promise not to tell anyone, (because
I don't want to be known as a "pincher of items") I will tell you
about my adventures!!
Day-by-day, I see
lots of the lovely Kiosk Customers zoom up to the Kiosk doors in their
gophers/scooters. And I watch soooo very longingly and a little bit enviously,
as I see them "whiz" past the Kiosk doors all through the day as they
head from part of Strathalan to another. Those scooters do look really fun to
drive and zoom about in!! Well,
yesterday, I said to myself: "Kiosk Ted, I am sure that these nice
Strathalan Residents wouldn't mind at all if you took their scooter for a
little ride. You can just drive very slowly and carefully, and I know that you
would take very good care of it. Have a little go at driving one!!" So, I
agreed to what myself was thinking/saying…and when I saw that a Resident had
left their scooter in a "safe from humans but still available to little
teddies like me" spot, I decided to give driving the scooter a little go!
Anyway, I reasoned to myself, I was just keeping the scooter battery in good
use and making sure that it didn't get rusty, wasn't I? Yes, indeed!
Well, I thought that such a grand adventure
required some grand clothes. I slipped on a chequered flag patterned shirt, put
on my specially-designed racing helmet, and put on black gloves. I wore a red
hankie around my neck. (I'm not sure why I put this hankie around my neck, but
I just thought that it would make me look "cool") I did look quite fashionable,
even if I say so myself! And I was really "ready to ride".
I leapt into the
seat of the scooter, and started to do some reversing manouevres…well, I tried
to do some reversing, but I wasn't quite successful!! I couldn't get the scooter
working. So I tried again, and this time the scooter made a bit of a
spluttering noise, then it sort of jerked a bit, and it gave a bit of a
"revvy" noise, …and the next thing that I knew, I had landed up in a
rose bush!! Roses are very beautiful flowers and have a lovely scent, but I did
not really enjoy getting so close to their petals and particularly did NOT like
saying ' hello' to the thorns! Ouch!! My nice shirt got a bit torn, and my bear
paws felt very sore!! I am very glad
that the Kiosk has a good supply of band -aids and some antiseptic savlon!! But
…the scooter did not even get a scratch on it, so that was good!
After untangling
the scooter and myself from the rose bushes, I jumped back on to the scooter,
and tried travelling in it again…and I got it working well! Oh, I had such a
grand time traveling along the different pathways and tracks of the Strathalan
grounds!! I couldn't help but test out the horn tooter and it tooted a very
nice toot-y noise!! I dutifully kept to
the speed limit, and at the same time took in with my bear eyes all the sights
and sounds of Strathalan. And then I knew that it was time for me to have to
say goodbye to my new found scooter friend, park it back where I found it, and
return by "bear foot" to the Kiosk. After one last "little bear
rev" of the engine, I leapt from the scooter and ran all the way back to
the Kiosk, with excited recollections of this great scooter jaunt experience
filling all my thoughts. All this scootering work had made me quite
"peckish" ,so I decided to sit down and have a nice mug of
Continental chicken and corn cup -o-soup, ( I am glad that I wasn't carrying
any eggs in the scooter when I happened to end up in the rose bushes!! Or it
would have indeed been a case of scrambled eggs for supper!!) followed by a shortbread cream biscuit, (and I
snuck in nibbling on a tim-tam too!)
What a day!! And
so I snuggled up cozily on the seat that some people call "the birthday
chair" in the Kiosk, and dreamt pleasant bear dreams. ..zzzzz
Until next time,
Your "rev-head" friend,
Mr. Kiosk-Ted Strath
Also simply known as
'Ted".!!
