Would you like to
hear about something that will make your mouth explode into a smile and then
erupt into a laugh? You do? Well, I would be delighted to tell you about it!
But…just by the way, did you know that Professor Theodore Teddy Doctor BD (he
has a Bear Doctorate Degree that he earned at Oxford University in England! He is
so very, very clever you know!} He is trying to find the cure to "the
common cold", although he points out to me quite often that a cold is not
very "common" because everyone feels differently when they have a
cold! Some people sneeze 2 or 3 or maybe 8 times in a row, (Sorbent and Kleenex
brand manufacturers like these sorts of people!) Others get a sore throat and go hoarse (it is
a very puzzling fact indeed when I hear people say their family member or
friend are hoarse because how does a horse actually fit in their throats?! I
would never be able to fit a horse in my teddy mouth!! If I try very, very hard,
I can fit a big mac in my mouth if I open it up very wide…but never a horse!!
It would be a funny sight to see a horse in a throat of a person, perhaps one
day I will see that sight? No, I don't think I will!!) , other people just feel
so tired when they get a cold that they collapse into a seat or onto the bed
and have a little snoozey sleep, whilst other people with colds just feel a bit
heated inside and get redder in the face just like it was the middle of Summer
and they were standing outside in the direct heat at midday! Which means, the
medical teddy profession never use the words "common" and
"cold" in the same sentence!
I don't know why I
just told you about Dr. Teddy just then, but perhaps I will remember later on! Anyway
back to the funny thing I was going to tell you about!
Oh, I am so
excited!! I just had a teddy senior moment! I now remember why I was talking
about Doctor Teddy! Although I am very proud of his achievements as a doctor
teddy and his determined work in finding
a cure for the cold, that is not the real reason why I was bringing him into my
conversation with you! What I really wanted to tell you is that often he gives
out special prescriptions to us teddies! On the prescription he writes the
words: "A laugh a day helps a teddy! It doesn't make teddies any better
physically, but it certainly helps teddies inwardly!" He says that you
can't actually make yourself laugh, it just happens. But sometimes, you can
look at things in a funny way, and then you start to feel all tingly inside,
and your lips start to twitch, and then all of a sudden like a big surf wave
your mouth erupts into laughter! That is fun!
Back to the funny
thing I was going to tell you! My friends Henry and Hillary the hiker teddies
invited me to go on a nice walk beside the local river. It sounded like a great idea to me, to stroll
along with teddy friends in the sunshine, have a little chat as we walk and
take the fresh outdoors air into our teddy lungs. Well, my friends picked me up
on their trio-andem bike (have you ever been on a trio-andem bike? It is much
better than being on a tandem bike, because 3 teddies can fit on this type of
vehicle, one behind the other! It even has a special bike horn that beeps out a
"honk! honk,! honk!" noise
when you touch it!) We arrived at the
river, got off the bike and started to go for our walk. Of course, we had our
teddy backpacks full of yummy food to keep our energy levels up! We had cheese
and tomato sandwiches, little tubs of fruit, a lamington, and a thermos of
twinings tea. We were chatting, walking, skipping, and jumping along when all
of a sudden we saw a very delightful sight! Our teddy eyes widened and
widened…and we started to smile and laugh…and well, Hillary quickly pulled out
her camera and took a picture of what we saw! I will post it here for you to see
too! Yes…these little ones are all wearing life jackets!! Their Mum must have
not wanted them to drown! We all started giggling, but they didn't seem worried
by the clicking of our cameras or our laughter!
We had already
finished eating our food, so we couldn't throw any crumbs or bread crusts to
them. But as my teddy mum always used to tell when I was just a little young
teddy, "You must eat your bread
crusts or your fur won't be curly!". Well, I always wanted curly fur , so
I always ate up my crusts! Some of my
friends through decided that they didn't want to see little birds going soooo very hungry and
the thought of depriving them of eating some crusts bore heavily on their
minds. Sooo they decided to not have curly fur and instead give their crusts to
the birds. I have always wondered if the birds really appreciated such a kind
and nice gesture on the part of these little teddies.
Anyway, I do hope
that I have provided a bright spot to your day!
Until next time,
Have a little laugh, don't catch a
cold, and always wear life jackets if you are venturing into the water!
Your friend, Mr.
Kiosk-Ted Strath
Also simply known as
"Ted"!!
