Mmmm.... the smell of sausages sizzling or lamb chops chizzling( I just made that name up! If sausages can sizzle, chops should be allowed to be chizzling, don't you think?!) on a barbecue is sooo very appetising and nice! How yummy! I think that flies and mozzies like the smell too, because they seem to be very unwanted and uninvited guests to each BBQ that I have attended! I just have to tell you about a BBQ that I attended the other day!
Barthlomew the Barbecuing teddy invited me to his BBQ party that he was holding in his backyard. He had hung up lots of colourful balloons, streamers, and wind chimes to make a nice restful noise. He also had a table with areoguard, sun cream, and fly swats! You do definitely have to be prepared for insects, uv rays, and any other problems that may arise! ( I do have to admit though, that sun cream and teddy fur do not mix too well together! It is quite sticky and messy!) Bartholomew was feeling sooo happy, that he started whistling a happy cheery tune. So, I started whistling too, then William the warbling teddy joined in too( he has such a very nice whistling tone!), then Wendy the whistler teddy decided to start her harmonious whistling, and then Helena the humming teddy starting humming... and the music filled the air! It was soooo very melodic and nice!
Anyway, all the other BBQ teddy guests started to arrive, and there was much celebration and fun as we all greeted each other and caught up with the latest teddy news! Well, it was such a nice chattery time, that we all forgot about the sausages and chops that were on the BBQ.... and all of a sudden, the nice, pleasant, delicious and tasty aroma could be then classified in two words: "Burnt" and "yukky"! Hmmm.... No one really wanted to eat those very, very burnt pieces of meat! We had to throw some more chops and sausages on the BBQ! ( We don't like shrimps, so we definitely did not want to throw any on to the BBQ! )
I like tomato sauce with my sausages! I did have a little mishap though at the party, because there was just a little bit of sauce at the bottom of the sauce bottle and I was thumping on the bottom of the bottle to try to get it out... and yes...it came out all of a sudden and splattered all over my teddy fur! It was a real mess! And, little Bella, the blood-not-liking teddy saw me, and promptly fainted because she thought that I was covered in blood! We then had to revive her and check her teddy pulse and heart beat! I stayed out of her sight until I could completely clean myself up!
We then sat around a big campfire and toasted marshmallows! They were quite gooey....but squishy nice! We all got burnt tongues though because the marshmallows were very hot!
Well, I had best get a little bit of sleep now. I wonder if I will dream of sausage sizzles... and a nightmare of burnt meat!
Until next time,
Enjoy eating yummy unburnt food, whether inside or outdoors!
Your friend,
Kiosk Ted Strath
