Do you like
Summertime?? I do!! I like sunny weather! But… you must be sun smart! Don't
forget to put on sun screen if you go outdoors! If I take one step out of the
Kiosk door, I always make sure that I have put on my "summerwear
uniform" of a "splodge" of suncream on my nose, a
"splash" of cream on my teddy cheeks ( oh, I just had a very funny
thought! It would be soooo funny if someone put on whipped ordinary cream
instead of suncream! It would be quite delicious though to try to eat the cream
off your own face when you discovered your mistake! Hmm… I had better not try
it because I haven't got a big enough tongue to reach the cream!), pop on some
sunglasses and "flop" on a big sun hat. I am then ready to enjoy the
Summer's day!
I do like Summer and going to the beach but… I
don't like crabs! Belinda the beach bear spends the whole year at the beach
whether it is sunny, rainy, cloudy, hot, cold, foggy, or snowing (It is perhaps
a tiny exaggeration because we don't have any snow here in Melbourne! But… if
there does happen to be an unusual day when snow does just happen to suddenly
appear from the skies, she would still spend time at the beach!) She sits on a
seat on the beach and sometimes goes for a swim in the sea. One day, she was
sitting in a seat on the sand, reading pages from the latest editions of the
teddy magazines :" Teddies Day" and "New Teddy Idea" (
these magazines are sooooo much better than other magazines such as Woman's Day
or New Idea! They contain lots of interesting articles about all my teddy friends!
They do NOT have gossip articles at all! And Belinda always tears out the
recipes in the magazines to use when
cooking meals for her teddy family and friends. She also keeps up with the
latest teddy fashion trends here and overseas
by reading the magazines. There is even a puzzle page with crossword
puzzles to do in it!) Well, in fact Belinda had just started to do one of these
crosswords, and had got totally engrossed in trying to think what an answer to
one of the clues was. She was concentrating so hard with her teddy mind and
brain, that she got quite a nasty surprise when all of a sudden she got a quite nasty pain in her toes! She exclaimed in a very painful voice:"
Ouch! Ouch!" Then she looked at her foot! Hmmm…. Mr. Claude the crab had
decided to have a tasty meal of Belinda's paw! I really think that it would
have been quite too much furry, but crabs must have different eating tastes to
teddies!! Belinda was in so much pain, and her screams of soreness frightened
Claude so much that he went scurrying off back to the water.( I think he went to
the water, but I can't be sure because
when Belinda was telling me about her awful day at the beach, she said that she
was in so much pain that she just saw Claude rushing off somewhere and then she
fainted and lost consciousness for a couple of minutes! Sea water is the best thing
for bites, so it was soooo good that
there just happened to be water nearby to bathe poor Belinda's sore feet it!
That was good wasn't it! Belinda's paw
healed very well, but she was just a little bit upset with Mr. Claude the crab
and accidentally-on-purpose forgot to
send him a "happy birthday" card
that month. ( I wonder how crabs celebrate their birthdays? I have never
been invited to a crab birthday party. I
don't think that I want to either! I would very much prefer to eat some lobster
spread that the Kiosk sells instead!)
I just have tell you the most funniest thing
that my teddy friend Edward the eggiest egg-liking teddy did the other day! It was such a very,
very hot day that he decided to see if he could fry an egg outside in the heat
by just cracking it on a plate! When Edward was younger, he studied at Teddy
university and earned a Bachelor of Science degree so he has quite a scientific
mind! He grabbed an egg out of his fridge ( he did not literally
"grab" and egg, rather he carefully picked it up out of the egg
holding area on the side interior of the fridge and nestled it in his hands!)
then took the plate and the egg outside to test his theory. He was just about to go out the back door of
his house, when all of a sudden there just happened to be a rubber band on the
ground…he tripped over it…and Edward, the egg and the plate went
"topsy-turvy" up into the air and back down again, and he landed not very elegantly outside on the grass! The plate was on the
ground in a million little pieces of china (I am sorry. I think that I am
exaggerating. I do apologize! I should have said that the plate broke into 999,
999 pieces!) The egg ended up on his head! But… it was okay, because the
weather was sooo hot that it cooked itself, and turned into a nice fried egg!
Edward was very happy that his theory had worked, even though his head had turned into the plate for the
egg!
Well I think I had
better now just enjoy an ice cream from the Kiosk freezer now…
Until next time,
Enjoy the Summery
weather! Please be on the lookout for crabs and always wear socks if you are at
the beach!
Your friend, Kiosk-Ted Strath.
Also simply
known as "Ted"!!
