I've just been talking to my friends
Gary and Greta, the Grand Prix motor car racing teddies!! They are in Melbourne
at the moment for the big race!! Do you know what their official uniform is ?
Yes, you're right, Gary teddy bear wears a black and white checked shirt and
shorts and a bright red cap, and Greta
wears a very pretty white and red checked dress and a little jacket that is red
and white checked too and a totally white cap. This is because of the official
checked flag that is always waved at motor car racing events. And they also
wear little white coloured sneakers on their foot paws. When the race is on tv,
if you look really closely at the front passenger seat of the car, you may get
to see Gary or Greta sitting there giving all the tv audience a little
wave! Please wave back to them, as they
are very friendly teddies!! But… I'll tell you a little secret…but please don't
tell Gary or Greta….I don't really like motor car racing at all!! Oh, oh, just
to think of the loud noises and screeches and how quick the cars travel…well my
little teddy head is already just spinning around and around with giddiness and
a head ache and an earache!! No, no, motor car racing is just not for me,
whether watching at the track or on the tv and definitely never ever would I
even for one second sit in a racing car!! Greta did confide in me one day that
she has some teddy bear ears-sized ear plugs that she keeps in her teddy bear
purse just in case the noise gets too much for her. But I suppose she is just
used to the noise by now.
Anyway, Gary and
Greta came visiting me because of being in town for the race and they were VERY
impressed by the machine that was in the Kiosk.
They excitedly rushed over to it when entering the Kiosk and seeing it
there, and started to point at it and asked me all about! I proudly stood up
extra straight and tall and informed them of what it was!! (Because I was glad
that I was able to tell them something that they didn't know!! Gary and Greta
have been all around the world you know, to all the cities and countries of the
world where the motor car racing take place!! They know lots and lots of
things!! But they hadn't seen a machine like this!) And you may be wondering
what caught their attention in the Kiosk? It was…the trolley!!
Yes, they wanted
to have a closer inspection of this 3 layered steel item that was heavily laden
with all sorts of nice goodies to eat!! Their little teddy eyes were wide open
when they looked at everything that was on it! Biscuits and chocolates and
lollies and tissues and more! Before I
could blink my eyes, Greta had leapt onto the top of the trolley where the
biscuits are!! (Don't worry, she is very light in weight and didn't break any
biscuits when she landed on them! She is as "light as a feather" and
took a little cushion with her to protect the biscuits underneath her!) And
Gary rushed to get behind the end of the trolley to steer it…and off they went
to try to head off around the Kiosk!! Hmmm…just a slight problem as they didn't
unplug the cord from the power point where it was being charged up! They did
indeed come to quite an abrupt stop, and poor little Greta sorted of lurched
forward, did a somersault straight up into the air…and the next thing we knew she
had landed head first down on the Kiosk floor! Gary and I both gasped at the same time and
rushed to Greta's aid…and was most relieved when we heard her give a little
giggle and exclaim in a loud voice: "That was so much fun!! Even better
than being in a racing car at top speed!!"
Well, of course
the best thing to do after having a bit of a shock is to have a nice cup of tea
and some biscuits!! I grabbed some Lipton teabags off the shelf, and a packet
of shortbread creams and a packet of tim
tams and a block of dairy milk chocolate, just for
medicinal purposes you know, just to
raise Greta's blood sugar levels just in case the shock had upset her system.
And just watching Greta's accident gave Gary and myself a shock too so we
needed to "up" our sugar levels too!
I said goodbye to
Greta and Gary and they left the Kiosk to get ready for their Grand Prix
duties. I secretly, or perhaps not so secretly were extra glad just to climb
into my comfy seat in the Kiosk and have a little nap, amidst peaceful silence
with no car revving or loud noises or car exhaust fumes!
Goodnight from your very "un rev
head" teddy friend,
Until next time,
Mr. Kiosk-Ted Strath
Also
simply known as "Ted"!!
