Did you know that Teddies don't have to vote?!! We don't because there are no teddy bear politicians! We are law abiding teddy bear citizens of Australia, and according to regulations rule number 683a fourth amendment codicil revised and updated ( there is a lot of red tape with governments don't you think?! And I have always wondered why it is called "red" tape, and not green or red or yellow or purple or even pink polka dot spotted tape! To be honest, but I am always honest!, I think that it would be fun to call it rainbow coloured tape!) , the law says that teddies are under no obligation to vote because they can't reach the top of the table in the voting booth! Yes, it's true! We can't reach the ledge table top in the voting booth to be able to tick or number the boxes on the voting papers! And also, we like using coloured pencils instead of the grey lead pencils that they supply! I just do NOT understand why people are required to vote only using grey pencils, when voting would be so much more colourfully nice if the boxes could be filled in by using a red, orange, blue or green coloured pencil! It would also make the counting of the votes much more fun too! But I suppose on the other hand ( or on the other teddy paw) it might be harder to see the coloured pencils writing if counting votes at night. And... it wouldn't be too good if the vote counterer ( I made that word up! ) was colour blind. Hmm... I suppose being colour blind wouldn't really affect the counting of the votes, but still it sounds like a good reason against using coloured pencils! I wonder if the vote counters have their pockets and handbags checked to make sure that they don't bring any pencil rubbers/erasers into the counting room with them? There is probably an official Police officer at each vote counting centre with the distinguished title of : "Eraser checker and consfigater" Perhaps Lilian the Law abiding teddy could apply for this job? She always keeps to the rules.
Sally and Simon are the Sausage Sizzle teddies and they always cook sausages on a bbq to give out on election days. Sausages smell sooo appetising when cooked on a bbq! They are such great sausage sizzler teddies! They know just how to cook the sausages so that they are not too burnt or are under underdone. Thelma the tomato growing teddy gives them tomato sauce made from the home grown tomatoes that she grows in her backyard garden. The sauce tastes very delicious accompanying the sausages, which are placed in a slice of bread! Just thinking about it now makes me almost be able to smell the sausage flavour in my Teddy nose!
Well, my vote right now, it that I should go and have a little nap!
Until next time,
Numbering the boxes on a voting paper is such good numbers practice for little teddies at Primary School! They learn how to count by doing that!
Your friend,
Kiosk Ted Strath.
