Hello to everyone. I am here today to pay tribute to some very special teddies that I have the privilege to call my friends. They have fulfilled very, very special and important roles in their teddy lives. May I please introduce them to you? Oh, they are very humble teddies, and don't like to talk about what they did and the awful things that they saw. But I would like to take the opportunity to tell you about them. Their names are: Alexander, Adrien, Adam, and Arthur and they are all "Anzac Teddies". They accompanied the brave soldiers who left our shores and went off to fight in the wars. They found hidey-holes in bottom of bags and in top pockets of army uniforms, and often sat quietly on stretchers accompanying solider patients that were being transported to makeshift medical areas. They were a comforting sight for these soldiers to look at and clutch, when in pain, worried or suffering homesickness. Often they were squeezed so very, very hard! They didn't mind. They knew they had been given the huge responsibility to be a comfort to these soldiers, and they were honoured to be there in the soldiers' time of need. Many a time they would take the bullet instead of the soldier. ( They must admit that they did sometimes sneakily pinch an Anzac biscuit to eat! They knew no one would mind! )
I will post some pictures of my teddy friends. Thankyou so much to all the soldiers who have fought in all the wars and to everyone at home who did so much on the home front. We will not forget.
